Teamwork praised after top awards shortlist

Devon law firm Wollen Michelmore was celebrating today after being shortlisted for a top award.

They have made the finals shortlist in the Team of the Year category at this year’s Devon and Somerset Law Society Legal Awards.

The firm has just completed a hectic but hugely successful year after two mergers.

It began with the merger with Morgan and Pope to see Wollen Michelmore open their first Exeter office in Cathedral Yard.

That was followed by the consolidation of their Barnstaple and North Devon business and a merger with Toller Beattie.
Wollen Michelmore are now one of the largest independent law firms in the West Country, employing 185 people and with a turnover approaching £10million.

Practice Director Clive Meredith said the firm was delighted to be shortlisted for the award.

“I thought it was only right that our merger team was entered as they did such a great job in getting two mergers in six months over the line. Whether we win or not, it’s a tremendous achievement to be shortlisted,” he said.

Chief Executive Chris Hart said: “It is brilliant to be shortlisted and is testament to the hard work put in by everybody. We have a great team here.”

The company is now looking forward to the dinner and awards evening being held at Exeter Cathedral on Thursday April 4.

Wollen Michelmore were shortlisted for Law Firm of the Year in last year’s Law Society’s national Excellence Awards – the highest accolade for law firms in England and Wales. They were also named Law Firm of the Year at the Devon and Somerset Law Society’s 2018 awards ceremony.
